With the Fire Science students graduating the program on Wednesday and this being their last day at the Station during school hours an extrication drill was set up to wrap up their trade experience days. The drill was lead by Chief Saylor and covered stabilization, glass removal, cutting seatbelts and using the HURST system.
The first car was stabilized on all 4 wheels. The members started with removing the glass, cutting the seatbelts, removing the doors, cutting the posts and removing the roof. Once that was completed a couple different dash rolls were utilized before moving on to the next car.
The second car was rolled on its passenger side using Brush 7’s winch. The purpose was to stabilize it using the Para Tech Struts. Once the car was stabilized with the struts the roof was removed. After the roof was removed the car was lowered back on all 4 wheels and the doors were removed to use every possible scenario with the car before it could no longer be used.
THANK YOU to: the Fire Science Students for coming to the drill even though there was no school today, to the seasoned members who took time to drill with the younger members and to Craigtown Auto for supplying the cars!
